Truecaller finally gets live voice caller ID for the iPhone, Check Demo....

Truecaller today announced a new feature for its iOS app — live voice caller ID. What this essentially does is checks the unknown number against its database and tells you in Siri’s voice who is calling.


For the voice caller ID to work, you will need to first take a screenshot (press the power and home button together) of the call screen. Within a few seconds, the app will speak out who the caller is.

This process of taking a screenshot for the caller ID has already been present for quite some time now, but the voice caller id is much faster and tells you who is calling much before the popup notification.

The process may sound a tad long to most people, but that is because Apple does not grant access to its APIs (in this case, call information). Android’s open platform, on the other hand, offers a far simpler way of using this feature. To bypass the strict rules, Truecaller came up with this screenshot method. But this is not the final product, speaking to TechCrunch, CEO and co-founder Alan Mamedi said that this is but an iteration and that he hopes to work closely with Apple in the future to make this process simpler.

Truecaller has shown an impressive growth with more than 55 million users worldwide and adding 2.4 million new users a month in India. Earlier this year the company also scored $18.8 million funding from investors led by Sequoia Capital.

Latest Samsung Galaxy S5 TV commercial shows off its water-resistant body

The water and dust resistant body of the Galaxy S5 has been one of its biggest assets since launch. In in the latest TV commercial, Samsung has decided to show off this ability to full effect.



The commercial shows kids spraying water on the phone, as kids are ought to do. One shot even shows the phone covered in flour. But thanks to the sealed design, neither of these are a problem as you can just wash or wipe the phone and it’ll be good as new.

LG's G Watch will be water resistant and feature always-on display

LG has unveiled the champagne gold version of the LG G Watch on their official Facebook page. It also has a dedicated webpage that reveals that the G Watch would be dust and water resistant and reveals that it will have an always-on display, unlike the Samsung Gear 2. The Stealth Black version of the LG G Watch was unveiled last month as the company’s first Android Wear-powered Smartwatch.


It doesn’t detail any other specifications like the processor and battery capacity yet, but the new image reveals a magnetic charging port on the back of the watch. Last month LG revealed that it would have changeable straps and the champagne gold variant shown in the image has a white colored rubber strap. It is not clear if LG would launch a metal strap for the G Watch in future like the Moto 360.

According to earlier reports, the LG G Watch would go on sale before July. Asus, HTC and Samsung are also expected to unveil their Android Wear-powered smartwatches later this year.

This not only increases the number of choices available for Moto X, but Motorola says that each handset gets a unique Walnut finish. Although the texture won’t be different, the design pattern on the back will be different, which means the phone becomes bespoke, well almost, the phone is more about the experience than just specifications.

Talking about the specifications, the Motorola Moto X offers a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) AMOLED display, a Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC with a 1.7GHz dual-core Krait processor and Adreno 320 GPU. Also included, are 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage, 10-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 2,220mAh battery. There are also two Motorola X8 co-processors, which take of care of the Active Display, Touchless Controls (the ability to listen to user’s commands without him having to touch the phone) and other gesture based tasks.

All three smartphones here are improved versions of their predecessors. While all three offer new features and better looks, they also come with well defined characteristics that set the three apart from each other. The Galaxy S5 is the reliable one that ticks most requirements but is let down by its processor and plasticky looks. The One (M8) looks stunning, has all the hardware specs but the innovative Duo camera fails to impress. The Xperia Z2 is not yet out in the market but early reviews suggest it is not much of an upgrade over the Xperia Z1.

Samsung Galaxy S5/? currently undergoing testing in India with 2K display resolution...

The newly launched Samsung Galaxy S5 might feel a bit left out, especially when the competition offers things like 4G compatibility and better looks, but not for long. Zauba, the database of imports and exports in India, has acknowledged that Samsung has sent ten unannounced devices for testing to India, and a 2K-screen equipped version of the Galaxy S5 is one of them.

A more premium version, rumoured to be called Galaxy S5 Prime was in the news, before Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 handset at MWC, earlier this year. The “Prime” was expected to get an all-aluminum body, a 2K display, and increase in specs, like the inclusion of another gigabyte of RAM, hence giving it a total 3GB RAM. While the phone did appear in some of the benchmarking tests, it could very well be the Galaxy S5 Prime that Samsung has included in the shipment.

Reported by SamMobile, the list also includes another variant of the Galaxy S5, which could be the Galaxy S5 Neo. Also on the list is another handset that could likely be the Galaxy S5 Active. Apart from these, Samsung’s first Tizen based handset, Ativ SE, slated to be launched a bit later this year, is also present. But that’s not all, the list also includes upcoming devices like Galaxy Ace Style, Ativ S Neo, Ativ Odyssey, and Galaxy S5′s US version, says the report.

A few tablets, probably Galaxy Tab 4s, a number of accessories and other devices complete the list. There can also be Samsung’s upcoming Windows Phone device that has made it to India along in the shipment. There’s also a 13.3-inch LCD screen with a huge resolution of 3200×1800, which could probably find its way to Samsung’s high performance laptop.

HTC has deservedly received a lot of accolades for its metal unibody and this year the company delivers yet again. The One's other strengths, the speakers and top-notch audio hardware, are present in the 2014 (M8) model too. Fans of design and music alike will lean towards the One (M8).


The camera may have been a misstep, however. The 5MP front-facing camera is great for selfies and the artistic effects enabled by the second camera will be popular with the Instagram crowd, but for general performance we should have seen a lot more from a 2014 flagship.

This is where the Samsung Galaxy S5 steps in. Even detractors of plastic have to admit its look and feel have vastly improved over the Galaxy S4. The camera is a noted improvement over the predecessor too and more importantly it beats the HTC One (M8) camera hands down for stills, video and most effects.

Samsung has also made a big step in perfecting the Super AMOLED technology and the Galaxy S5's screen is power-efficient, with great image quality and excellent sunlight legibility. It also offers you the choice between perfectly accurate colors and typical AMOLED punchiness - something beyond the LCD capabilities. In the great outdoors the S5 has another advantage - an IP67 rating.

While we doubt most people will push the IP rating to its full "one meter under water" potential, they won't be jealous of their Xperia-toting friends snapping photos by or into the pool

The loudspeaker is not up to par, but with headphones plugged in, the Samsung flagship is not that far back in terms of audio quality. It also tends to offer a richer app package out of the box, including exclusives like the wonderful S Health app and features enabled by the fingerprint scanner.

People who have retired their point-and-shoot will prefer the Galaxy S5 camera by a wide margin and would appreciate getting the equivalent of a waterproof camera. Photographers will get to view their shots (made with the S5 or not) on the sharp, accurate screen.

Waterproofing, fingerprint and heart rate scanners are rare or even unique. The cumulative effect of all those changes make the Galaxy S5 feel like a proper upgrade over a 2013 phone, while the HTC One (M8) is less convincing in that regard.

But while the Samsung Galaxy S5 came out on top in terms of number of victories that only makes it the definitive winner for some of you. The metal body and no-headphones sound of the HTC One (M8), plus its social networking-friendly camera are enough of an advantage for those that don't rely on numbers alone when picking their next handset.

HTC launches the all New One ie M8, Desire 816 and Desire 210 in India

HTC has launched three phones in the Indian market today, starting with the new flagship HTC One M8. The phone is priced at ₹49,990/- which is slightly lower than the pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in India.(update S5 is now available for just 46880/- only, price slashed)

The other phone to have been launched is the Desire 816, which is priced at ₹23,990/-. The Desire 816 is a dual SIM phone with a 5.5-inch 720p display, 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, and 2,600mAh battery.

Lastly, there is the brand new Desire 210, a dual-SIM phone priced at ₹8,700/-

Samsung Galaxy S5, now available in India for 46340/-...Only (White Version)

 Earlier today, HTC launched in India at Rs 49,900, which is lower than the launch price of the Galaxy S5. To counter it, Samsung has almost immediately slashed the price of its flagship, which is now available on Flipkart for Rs 46,340/- white version..

Samsung’s smartphones have always gotten a price cut after launching, but this is probably the first time it has slashed prices this early. It is clearly a reactionary move to the One (M8) pricing. There is currently no official word from Samsung, but the white color variant of the Galaxy S5 is now available on Flipkart for Rs 46,340/-, while the black color variant is still retailing at Rs 50,499.
