ZTE India has reportedly told DNA(Online News Site) that it expects to launch 4G smartphones with Airtel this year. These smartphones, which will most probably be powered by Android, will reach Indian shores as early as September.
“We are already in talks with Bharti Airtel and expect to launch ZTE-branded 4G handsets in India latest by September,” Xu Dejun, CEO of ZTE India told DNA in an interview.
Dejun did not reveal any details about these phones but we might see devices like ZTE Grand Era, which support TD-LTE network coming to Airtel.
To remind you, Airtel currently sells only one 4G LTE smartphone – Ascend P1 LTE, which was announced last year. The company has not released any more devices since then.
In related news, ZTE has also revealed that it will also be providing 4G LTE phones to Reliance Jio, when the service goes live in the country. Currently, there is no official word on the launch of 4G services by Reliance but some rumours suggest that the company might start 4G LTE services in couple of major cities by the end of 2013.
