Officially, Samsung insisted earlier this week it had not slashed the price of the Galaxy S5 in India and it was still Rs 51,500, the same as the launch price. Yesterday, Samsung introduced a buyback scheme for the Galaxy S5 that offered a minimum of Rs 7,500 off if one exchanged an old smartphone and Rs 5,000 off if one brought in a feature phone.
Under the scheme, the Galaxy S5 would be available at a lowest rate of Rs 44,000. Along with the buyback scheme, Samsung is also offering a voucher worth Rs 5,000 that could be redeemed against a purchase on Samsung India’s eStore.
