HTC One dual-SIM version headed to India in coming days

By Vijay @ 11:05pm

Looks like India is going to become the third country to get the dual-SIM version of HTC One smartphone in the coming days. The smartphone was today spotted on HTC India website and is being currently shown as “coming soon.”

HTC One dual-SIM

There is no word on the exact India launch date or pricing at this moment but if Chinese or Russian pricing is any indication, we can expect HTC One dual-SIM version to get priced around INR 43,500 in the country.

There are not many differences between single-SIM and dual-SIM versions apart from the removable back cover to access SIM slots and a microSD card slot, which is not present in the single-SIM version. It is important to note here that only one SIM-card slot in HTC One dual-SIM supports 3G connectivity, other slot only supports Edge connectivity.

To remind you, other features of HTC One dual-SIM version include 4.7-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display, Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, Ultrapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage, and 2.1MP front camera.

Smart Namo phablet revealed, packs 6.5-inch FHD display with Andriod 4.2 Jelly Bean..

By Vijay @ 10:52pm

I hope you might have heard about Android smartphone dedicated to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the last few days. Now the official specifications of this device, had been revealed online named as Smart Namo phablet,
 Smart Namo
There is no official confirmation on the pricing but multiple reports note that Smart Namo will cost around Rs. 21,000/-.

Smart Namo phablet packs a 6.5-inch 1080p display, 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and Android 4.2.1 and also comes with 13MP rear camera, dual-SIM support (3G + 3G) and 2GB of RAM.

Moreover Smart Namo will feature 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 3100 mAh battery and 2MP front camera.

The device will come with a free 32GB microSD card slot, a Bluetooth headset, and leather cover along with Box contents.

On paper, the device certainly looks interesting but the display size limits the target users. As, it is not a commercial profit making product and it is reportedly being sold at the buying price, the Modi fan business community, which is bringing Smart Namo to India, is not concerned about sales or orders.

Nokia Lumia 510 smartphone has now got a massive price cut and is available on certain India online retail stores for as low as Rs 6,190.
Gizmodo India has spotted the phone on e-commerce sites like Amazon India retailing for Rs 6,190.
This is quite the price drop if you consider the phone was launched in India for nearly Rs 10,000.
To remind you of the specifications, the Lumia 510 sports a 4-inch 800×480 pixels display and is powered by a Snapdragon processor clocked at 800MHz and paired with 256MB of RAM. Other features included are 5-megapixel rear camera, 4GB of fixed internal memory, and a 1,300mAh battery that Nokia claims is good enough for 6 hours of talk time and 738 hours on standby mode.
On the connectivity front, the device supports 3G and features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and on the software front, the device runs on Windows Phone 7.8.

With this price cut, the device will be barging into Nokia Asha 501 territory, which retails in India for just over Rs 5,000. Except dual-SIM card slots and microSD card slot, you get much more on the Lumia 510 and this is could hamper the sales of the Asha 501.

After attempting to make the cheapest tablet in the world and sell it to students at a highly subsidized price, the Indian government is now looking at developing cheap smartphones, ET reports. The plan is to develop a sub rs.5000/- smartphone and target first time buyers to push the country’s broadband growth.

“A fully functional smartphone is no longer an object of desire but an instrument of empowerment,” an official told ET. The plan is to locally manufacture these smartphones and sell them at cheaper costs to target a massive consumer base in the country.

It will be interesting to see who develops the smartphone in India and if the government can learn from their mistakes on the Aakash front.

By Vijay @ 03:44pm

Twitter had introduced ‘Universal Search’. with this in addition to displaying people and top tweets, the improved search will also include photos, videos and social context. This feature is slowly being rolled out, so not all will be able to see it at the moment. In the meantime though, SearchEngineLand has posted a series of screenshots of Twitter’s new search system. From now on, when you search something, the results will be broadly classified into three categories—People, Photos and Social Context.

As seen in the screenshots above, a search for ‘Google Glass’ shows the people associated with the term, followed by Top Tweets and then Photos.  Also while typing in search, Twitter will show you the people you follow associated with that term, while also suggesting you new ones to follow.
